A Simple Plan. Jesus came with a message of Good News and sent his disciples out with the same message. That ‘sending out” still applies today for modern day Christians.
There are several ways to see our life together as a congregation. One is to envision ourselves as an established institution and if someone wants to join us, our doors are open to let them in. A radically different view is to see ourselves as a mission outpost.
Our doors are open: let people in. Let us out.
When a congregation sees itself as an institution, it becomes dead and deadly. When we see ourselves as a congregation with a mission to carry on the work of Christ, we come alive. We become the presence of Christ in the world.
And when the congregation becomes a missionary society, you and I as individuals become missionaries. Our calling is simple: take Jesus’ message of Good News out to the world, whether far across the globe or right down the street.
“Let us go forth in the Name of Christ.” Thanks be to God.
Praise be to God. I acknowledge the message and pray that God uses me and my family to his cause. Amen!!!
Sounds sound to me!
